Americans, We're Being Taken Good - BAD!!!!

Well, I'm trying to make some sense of it all. I just hate that I have to accept somebody's dum-dum definition of "terrorist," "terrorism," "evil." I hope I never hear them again. It's the whole basis of Bush's reason for being, his whole concept of what is "governing." I think if anybody in Washington would read the Constitution-I know they haven't-and would govern both us and conduct foreign affairs with those most basic principles-see below-instead of rolling around chasing people on lists on pieces of paper-hell, they knew they were on there on 9/11, that's why they could freeze their money. What my question is: Why didn't they do something about them then? Find out what they were saying, why they were ticked off, could they come and get us again--why couldn't they be looking out for us from them? We'd already had the very same building and other incidents. We don't even think of them as people with a gripe, a message, they're just "terrorists" because Washington says they are-to the extent we can hardly keep them straight any longer.
And then there's the military genius of it all. We learned in Vietnam when they whipped our butts there you cannot win a guerilla war with traditional weapons of warfare-but I guess we didn't learn that after all. What do we have in Afghanistan, the most guerilla of the guerilla places? Those cute aircraft and little buzzy things flying over. Now this morning they're passing out pamphlets all over the eastern section offering huge rewards for "foreign" personnel there-and I'd like to see Rumsfield take that challenge out with a daisy cutter. And those tens of thousands before each of our Middle Eastern embassies-I don't think they looked like they were "for" us, so they must be terrorists, and you see I just hope they aren't saving their pennies to buy airline tickets and boxcutters-they're the ones we have to be looking out for, the guy in the street, the guy like the highjackers, the guy with an opinion of my country and us.
So as I say, I'm posting this, and I'll "await the hate" mail. The post below was written right after 9/11 so it's not really pertinent today, but I'm still right. Once we stop treating other nations and other people in them by other than Constitutional methods, all those most basic tenets of good government and human dignity and respect, we're going to get - Exactly what we have.
And I'm using bin Laden in my example below, the evil one. We could have listened to what he was saying on that tape, but they played it only once or twice and then jerked it for "security" reasons. He after all was the "head" we said of that huge worldwide organization-what do those individuals talk about in their meetings, those I'm looking over my shoulder for? He said on that tape-and it didn't seem that unreasonable from someone living in the area (and incidentally saw us just walk out of Afghanistan while we furnished those guns and he and his buds furnished the blood-AND WE JUST WALKED OUT AND LEFT IT ALL) (and he's "evil" but today I don't see anyone but US pasting an impoverished nation-we're fighting a War on Terrorism after all). He said: Your pal Israel treats the Palestinians like dirt (we see the result of that today), get military presence off my land, out of my holiest of places (would we really want military bases around our capitol building with strange people in burquas with guns around our streets (the base is out of Saudi now, lucky little Quatar has it now), would I like part of my population starving just because one of my states didn't do what was asked?
That guy could have been Jesus Christ himself and we would still have come after him, HAD to come for him-just because we needed an easy answer, some scapegoat, didn't want to say we weren't prepared, DID NOT ACCEPT RSPONSIBILITY FOR THE REASON SOMEONE COULD HATE THAT STRONGLY, didn't even have a chance to figure it out, sent the troops -
--And so we start a war against what? What? What? Against a CONCEPT!! What is "terrorism?" Why didn't we dash over to our good buddies the Saudis and Egyptians and ask them what they thought motivated them, since that's where they came from? Because we already knew what conditions exist there, why those people kicking up dust in the streets hate us-but, hell, we didn't care, do not care today. Ran around trying to find a connection with pore old Saddam-he planned it because one of them met an Iraqi in Prague one day. Maybe they were old school chums?
We're in deep, deep trouble if we let this stuff continue. Every time somebody does something we don't like, we immediately slap it under a "terrorist" label--even such an item as Saddam paying for suicide bombers. Saddam does not tell us how to spend our money on all that military to paste other people? You see what we do, how that looks when those in the streets before our embassies see that? Looks like a Big Bully always around in their midst, overlain on their lives, deciding who's a terrorist, pasting small countries. And the absolutely clueless way Bush can absolutely alienate whole nations and all the citizens in there. One speech, three whole countries-slathered with that vile term "Evil." We don't even have a definition. WHAT IS IT, what is a terrorist, SOMEONE WHO DOESN'T KOW TOW (I'm surprised Castro didn't make it)? Are there bad ones, worse ones, what if they're just a little "against" you on one or two little items, how do I know if they're "for us"? JESUS! How do you know it when you see it face to face, sneaking up on you? Who would do it if you didn't see it defined daily on the TV -"Read my lips, terror, terrorist, evil."
THAT'S WHY YOU HAVE A CONSTITUTION, so that everybody has the same rights, that you don't have to worry about figuring it out-no guilt by association, no being tried for crimes you didn't commit, freedom of speech and association, warrants for arrest, freedom to believe what you want, no prosecution for crimes committed before law passed prohibiting them-that Bill of Rights, that Constitution, those 10 pages. This isn't a war against a country that attacked us, it's against a concept-somebody HATES you, what can you do to make them not bother to hate you? It should have been handled like a criminal investigation. Did we shoot up Vermont after Oklahoma City to root out "terrorist" who like Timothy McVeigh hated Big Government? IT MAKES NO SENSE TO DO IT ON AN INTERNATIONAL SCALE either, against whole nations and all their citizens. "For us or against u"? What are you if you just don't give a twit about America either way?
IT MAKES NO SENSE BECAUSE IT'S A SCAM. Bush needed a boost in the polls, needed to take action, the Pentagon was hungry, hadn't had a good long war for a decade. Now they've got one that can go on forever. Troops in jungles fighting-well, who are they fighting? Well, they are people on a little paper list.
And since I've seen that big American government TERRORIST machine swing into action after 9/11, I'm beginning to see exactly how they feel! and I'm calling it TERRORIST because that's exactly what it is-it rules by terrorism, by threats and coercion, only military might-"You're with us or against it, you're the Axis of Evil, you choose, Cough him up, he's a Taliban who believes a Taliban. We'll come take you out," and we're the biggest TERRORISM and TERRORIST GAME IN TOWN. We don't even know it because we're a DEMOCRACY, a FREEDOM-LOVING, one of the CIVILIZED world-Bush's terms yesterday. But we're not even that any more after Patriot Act absolutely ripped the Constitution out from under us-people in detention, military tribunals, pawing through emails, freezing money-making it all up as they go along-ASHCROFT defining for us what a "terrorist" is, Rumsfeld going after little pockets in caves while the Middle Eastern embassies erupt in front of my eyes, Bush going to decide who to "smoke out," who to "take out"?
See how difficult it is? A Palestinian kid is a terrorist, Israel gets to "protect herself." Now we try ourselves to try to keep straight who a terrorist is-looks to me those kids have a gripe and no weapons (but he's a god-damned Hamas terrorist stooge on the list) and those Israeli tanks I bought look like they could scare people plenty. IT'S JUST INSANE, IT'S JUST WORDS. We can't even define anything if it's not without that concept any longer-like, for example, it doesn't look morally right, it's morally unjustified to paste Afghanistan because we decided we didn't like who they have invited on their soil? We know those El Quaeda hate us, have them as our enemies. Why not try not to make more!! PLEASE!!
Get on that telephone, tell anybody that's listening you want your government back, you are ending that "War on Terrorism," you re starting over and you are insisting that your government treat all nations and those HUMAN BEINGS in them by the most simple principles of the Constitution. And get on that phone again whenever you see or hear anything that you think lowers this nation in international eyes-"Cough him [bin Laden] up!"
That's the lesson of 9/11-we are responsible worldwide for our actions, military might is absolutely worthless today, we can have a nation we are proud of living in peacefully, or we can be looking over our shoulders for the rest of our lives when we have the fun of playing superpower-waiting for the next guy on a piece of paper to come get us all.
And I am not forgetting those who died that day on 9/11. No one can convince me that any one of them or their families would want to see others feel anything remotely what they felt that day-dying needlessly, randomly-and I saw we dishonor them if we don't take our country back and end that STUPID, STUPID "War on Terrorism." I'm not fighting it any long. It can't even be defined and IT'S OVER.
Well, at least I tried to make some sense of it!
